Violent Black Flash Mobs Are Targeting Whites And Businesses In U.S.

Are we taking a step back with racism?
When flash mobs first appeared in Manhattan in 2003, their purpose was to "spontaneously" entertain involuntary audiences with music, dance, or performance art. Times have changed, and the flash mob has taken on an ugly pall. Over the last several months, flash mobs have brought an unwelcome form of entertainment to neighborhood festivals, fairs, and unsuspecting businesses, and the fuel of the flash mobs is racism. Violent black flash mobs are targeting whites and businesses in the U.S.

Social media for the purpose of organizing people with a common objective has come center stage this year with unrest around the world. Protesters in Egypt, Syria, Tunisia and other Middle Eastern countries have used Facebook and Twitter to organize for political reasons. In the UK, mobs organized through the use of social media, wreaked havoc and caused millions of dollars of property damage, for no apparent reason.

In the U.S., this summer has seen the rise of an urban phenomenon where social media is used to organize black youths for the sole purpose of terrorizing whites and businesses.

Outbreaks of violence have occurred in Cleveland, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, Chicago and other cities. In Milwaukee, four police officers were hospitalized trying to calm a group of black teens at a fair.

In Cleveland, a number of fairs and festivals have been canceled due to fears of flash mobs coming to the events. A few years ago, the long-running E. 185th St. Festival was destroyed and discontinued after black youth gangs terrorized participants, robbed vendors and destroyed property.

In Maryland, a group of black youths, organized on social media, descended upon a convenience store. Thirty of them entered the store while it was open and openly looted the story without any sense of remorse.

In Cleveland, members of city council drafted a law that would add a secondary offense to any charges if social media was used to organize the chaos, said black city councilman Zachary Reed on the Mike Trivisonno Show on WTAM, 1100 AM today. "Mayor Frank Jackson vetoed the law," said Reed.

"We are seeing black teens specifically targeting whites in these flash mobs," Reed commented. "Most of the participants in these flash mobs are under 18." Reed said that beyond any laws they can draft, parents need to take responsibility for what their children are doing. "You need to know what they're doing on Facebook. You need to know what they are doing on Twitter. You need to know what they are doing on email."

Reed also added, "We can't seem to see any other motivation for these flash mobs than to cause chaos."

"Is racism headed in the wrong direction?" Trivisonno asked Reed. "I think we're taking a step back," Reed replied.

Reported on August 10, 2011:

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, who recently imposed a stricter curfew in response to the city's latest attack, addressed black youths directly from the pulpit of his church on Sunday, reportedly saying, “You have damaged your own race.”

"If you want …anybody else to respect you and not be afraid when they see you walking down the street, then leave the innocent people who are walking down the street minding their own damn business. Leave them alone," Nutter told a mostly black congregation at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in West Philadelphia, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
No one seems to know the exact motivation or cause behind the flash mob violence, except for race.

Hip-Hop culture may be a contributor and I plan to write a piece "How Hip-Hop Culture Marginalizes Minority Youths." Through urban music, an "Us vs. Them" mentality brews. Money and wealth are glorified and their acquisition at any cost is also glorified and glamorized. It doesn't matter how you get it, just get it - It being money, property, and if you're lucky - fame.

A big question that lies ahead for lawmakers is the constitutionality of regulating social media. Could there be a ban on Facebook or Twitter? ACLU lawyers are lining up for what could be a nasty legislative fight.

The number one concern of the communities effected is the safety of their citizens - no matter what color they are. They also want social events that bring people of all races together for family fun, food, music, art, shopping and good times not be taken from the communities by a small group of hoodlums.

Unfortunately, racism is black and white. When people see a group of a particular group or ethnicity causing chaos, terrorizing people, causing property damage and having no higher purpose to their actions, the impact is highly derogatory to the offending party. When whites lash out in obviously racially motivated attacks on blacks, black people grow to hate white people and the same applies when blacks target whites. Racism unfairly casts a large umbrella over a group and does it solely by color.

Being the first black president, Barack Obama has an obligation to address this issue. He needs to speak to his people. Otherwise, as councilman Reed said, "We could be headed to a race war."

England's Prime Minister, David Cameron, spoke openly, denouncing the recent violence in London and other British cities. That is leadership - stepping up and calling for corrective action. Obama has shown a severe lack of leadership during his presidency and it may take deaths and costly property damage to get him off the golf course and to a national microphone.

In other news... Gun sales are up 17.5% in Ohio this year and have been rising nationwide; though not quite near the peak in 1993. Hmmmm.... any connection?

If you see youths congregating - White, Black, Hispanic - and they look like they might be up to no good, call 9-1-1. It does not hurt to have police arrive and try to assess the situation or disperse a group. Otherwise, we are going to start seeing people taking their self-defense in their own hands, and there will be casualties. Lives will be lost, futures will be destroyed, and there won't be a good reason why violent black flash mobs are targeting whites and businesses in the U.S.
