|Let the race begin!|
A friend of mine on Facebook connected me with her nephew who runs a store that sells refurbished Macs. I got a great computer and a great deal. I plan to do a profile on his business in the near future. He just got married on August 6th, and I want to give him some time to honeymoon and get settled back in his business.
Successful blogging requires that you put out content on a regular basis - at least content that people want to read. Why do they want to read it? Because it does something for their lives. I've wasted too many blog posts over the last two month talking about being without a computer and how I was going to solve the problem. Now, we can get back to the fun stuff, the criticism, the news, the TV shows and whatever else I think is worth knowing about.
Besides putting out content, marketing is a major factor in keeping blog traffic flowing. Under normal conditions, I'd post a few articles to Facebook, share them on various nets like LinkedIN, Google Buzz, Google Bookmarks, Yahoo Bookmarks, Orkut, StumbleUpon, Fark, and a few others. With my old computer cutting out on a daily basis, I had no time to distribute posts to those nets.
Twitter has been a big traffic source for me. I use Tweetdeck to keep posts tweeting out 24//7 - that all came to a halt. Twitter also has a secondary benefit. There are about a dozen or more people that have put together a newspaper using Paper.li. Because I learned what hashtags they focus on, I always tweeted my humorous posts with those various hashtags and would regularly wind up in their papers. I don't know how much traffic the Paper.li papers generated, but I'm sure there are some visitors that came from them.
I have a few things to take care of with the new computer. The reseller didn't send me the password to change the admins and to allow me to load programs. I should get that today or tomorrow. Then, I can load my toys and upgrade my flash player and I should be flying like a rocket.
Most of my peers post once or twice a week to their blogs. When I was rolling, I was posting an average of three posts a day to this blog. I also have two other blogs. (There are more, but I can't see them. I can't see them. I can't see them.)
I've created so much content since I started back on the keyboard on March 7th, 2011, I could have just been pumping out varying pieces with Tweetdeck and maintained my traffic. But that wasn't possible, so I've slipped to my lowest weekly level of traffic since March. I still get more page views per week than I did in March all together, but I hit a high bar in May and I'm committed to getting back to it.
