|No new posts, no more fun, until I get the computer, son.|
I love my littel iBookG4. I've had it for about 5 years and it has worked great. But, it's dying. And technology is passing me by. I've tried to download a few things and it says that I either don't have the right operating system or not enough processing speed to run what I'm attempting to download.
Big problem - I am flat broke. No job. I've been working day and night on this blog and two others to try to create my own business. I have plans for several eBooks, blogging classes, marketing consulting and a host of other ventures that would get me out of the poorhouse, but it's all a pipe dream without a computer.
I'm at the library now. I don't know how people with Microsoft computers get anything done. But that's another story. I only get 2 hours a day of time on the computer at the library.
So, I have to get a new computer. We've been through this before, when my laptop died the first time.
I need an Apple MacBook. They cost $999. Add tax and the cost of transfering content from my old hard drive to the new one and we're talking around $1,200. I've raised $900. All I need is $300.
The last time I was at Microcenter, they had the MacBook Pro, which is way faster with more storage, more this, more that and it was reduced to $999. Good time to buy. But I have to act fast. There are TV shows I cover that I won't be able to write about until I get the new computer. It takes too much time to go through the notes and put the pieces together. Two hours at the library won't cut it.
I'm asking a $5.00 donation. That's a beer or two, half a pack of cigarettes in Chicago, a sandwich, a McDonald's #3 combo, one Dr. Scholl's shoe insert, 20 rolls of toilet paper at the Dollar Tree or a 2-hour pass on the Deuce buses on the Las Vegas Strip - or you can help a guy stay in business.
That's my story. Not fun. And that's my shameless pitch to Save The Blog - I need donations.
