Obama Explains U.S. Role In Libya - I Guess

Barack Obama appeared Monday night before a national television audience to explain the U.S. role in Libya. I don't know if I'm more informed or less informed after he spoke.

The president began with an extensive thanks to our troops around the world. Then, he justified the military involvement in Libya by saying that there was an imminent slaughter of Libyan civilians and we needed to intervene, because that is what we do.

Obama is hard to listen to. His pacing is monotonous and he reminds me of a metronome.

As he progressed through his speech, I started to get drowsy. To me it sounded like this:

"The United States of America has done what we said we would do."

Blah, blah, blah

"The United States of America has done what we said we would do."

Blah, blah, blah

"The United States of America has done what we said we would do."

Blah, blah, blah

"The United States of America has done what we said we would do."

Zzzzzzzzzzzzz

In one week, American taxpayers have spent $600 million on the Libyan excursion.

After Obama spoke, members on both sides of the aisle were still shaking their heads and had many questions that were left unanswered by the president. It's funny how he can befuddle Republicans AND Democrats. Maybe he needs to roll out another "Yes we can" speech.

Sunday on Washington Week (PBS) one of the commentators said regarding Obama's planned Monday night speech, "This is a capital B, capital S speech. Yes, a Big Speech." I can spell, too. It was BS by BO.

As with any administration, Republican or Democrat, I don't ever think the American people get the full story. Mysteries and covert agendas lie just below the surface in all of these conflicts.

Obama supposedly did what he was expected to do. However, a lot of people still want to know what the U.S. role in Libya is.
